My last two posts have been centered around the topic of persistence, why it is a very important skill necessary for success and I also provided tips on how to develop the skill. I hope by now you have taken action and are already on your journey to attaining this essential skill.
Now that I have had time to go over and really analyse the material I put out in my last articles, it seems like I put the milk before the hot water (my sister would understand, we argued a while back about what goes in first when making a cup of tea) or maybe the horse before the cart would be a more familiar expression.
I have gone and made the natural assumption that everyone is working towards a goal of some shape or form. Maybe I am wrong and there would be someone still stuck at the starting line? Maybe you are still putting on your running shoes, or maybe flexing your muscles just like Dwain Chambers? Some of you are still undecided whether to join the race or not, let me rain on your parade, whether you are aware of it or not, you already are in the race. Anyway, the point I am trying to make is that it is always a good idea to start from the beginning and therefore this article is going to be about Goals and the process of goal setting.
I understand there is a lot of other material on goals and goal setting out there, and I am not going to say forget whatever you have come across before and follow what I say here. Different people take in information in different ways and maybe my way will resonate with you more than anything else you have studied, or maybe it will not. This is my take on goals and goal setting and I will be the first to admit it will not be for everyone who will read this article, and as long as I light the path for even one person then I will be happy.
" Unless you know what you want from life and are determined to get it, you will be forced to accept the mere crumbs left by others who knew where they were going and had a plan for getting there" - Napoleon Hill's Unlimited Success, 52 Steps To Personal & Financial Reward
Do come back for part 2 where I outline how to design your goals, because even if having goals is absolutely important, how you design them is even more so. I look forward to sharing with you in part 2 and until then remember " A man is a goal-seeking animal. His life only has meaning if he is reaching out and striving for his goals." ARISTOTLE
